When the Light Remains

When the Light Remains

This painting is an invitation to pause.

Each of us sees nature differently, just as each of us experiences the world in our own way. At first glance, it may seem that the eucalyptus is the main subject of this painting. But for me, the true protagonist is the light — the warmth of a day slowly coming to an end.

The eucalyptus is more than simply a tree within the landscape. It becomes a silent witness to nature, to the passing of time, and to the quiet beauty of an ordinary moment.

Look at the tree through my eyes. Its smooth bark seems to come alive, reflecting an ever-changing harmony of warm and cool colours — delicate pinks, glowing golds, silvery greys and soft blues. The light transforms the tree from one moment to the next, and this quiet transformation exists in nature for only a few fleeting minutes.

Some moments in nature exist only briefly. They cannot be held onto; they can only be remembered. For me, painting is the only way to preserve them.

This work is therefore not simply about a eucalyptus tree. It is about that rare instant when an ordinary landscape becomes almost magical.

Perhaps, at first, you will see only a tree. But I believe that if you stay with the painting a little longer, you too will notice what makes me pause… the light.
